Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh is a city that is over 400 years old. It is noted for its artistic and cultural heritage, delicious cuisine and splendid shopping. Hyderabad was founded on the River Musi five miles east of Golconda, in 1591-92 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. In the 16th century the city grew rapidly along the banks of river Musi. Many buildings sprang up along the River Musi and Golconda was the capital of the Qutb Shahi rulers.
